Today, I was browsing the web, as I often do. I came across the personal page of a person who I thought was a pretty cool person, until he started to talk about politics.
It seems, to my horror, that his political opinions differ from mine. I got angry. I always get angry when I read political opinions that differ from mine. This, I think, is a very horrible thing.
In fact, I might even go so far and say that it is my worst trait. Of course, I probably have worse.
So, I guess that what I am trying to say is that I'm not that hot. I really don't know as much as I think. I have very strong opinions on lots of things. WHy do I have those? Because I've read books written by intellignet people that say those things.
But there are books I haven't read, that are also written by intelligent people.
So whats the point, you ask. This: You probably don't want to hear my political views, so I won't bore you with them. They aren't as important to you as you're political opinions. So, if you want to be informed, do this:
Find books on an issue, get one conservative leaning and one that leans liberally. Then, see the good points of each one, and judge those points for yourself. Don't let Rush Limbaugh or Ralph Nader or George Bush think for you. You can still listen to them,
but make sure that you listen to their ideas, and not them. Judge their ideas, and not them.
Now, this doesn't mean that I don't have political views, or that I won't vote or anything. I still have views, and I still feel very strongly about them, and I will vote etc. If you really really want to hear what I have to say about an issue, e-mail me.
Finally, if there is an issue that I really feel strongly about, I will hopefully write about it here. But there isn't really an issue like that for me at the current time.
Now, for a little story. I consider myself smart. I have views on how the world should be run. Therefore, because I am smart, the governemnt et al should do what I say. However, there are people who are smarter than I, who differ in opinions from me.
Therefore, they should be put in charge of the world. However, there are people even smarter then those people, and it goes on and on. However, there is one person, who is the smartest person in the universe. Lets call this person God. We should
put God in charge of everything. Fortuneatly, he is one step ahead of us.
